The Claymont City Board of Education convened its organizational meeting on Jan. 12, 2026, at the district administrative office. Mr. Solomon Peters presided at the start of the session and the board recorded the presence of five members—Martha Campbell, Lois Grandison, Cyndy Host, Solomon Peters and Michelle Wolf—along with Superintendent Brian Rentsch and other administrators.
Treasurer Kim Beckley administered the oath of office to newly elected board members Lois Grandison, Cyndy Host and Michelle Wolf. The board then moved through routine organizational business, approving the meeting agenda by roll call, opening and closing nominations for officers, and conducting votes to elect board leadership for the year. The session concluded with unanimous approval of a set of organizational items and adjournment at 6:09 p.m.
Why it matters: annual organizational meetings establish board leadership, meeting cadence and administrative authorities that guide district operations for the coming year. The board adopted a calendar of regular meetings to be held at 6:00 p.m. and set administrative delegations—such as Treasurer signatory authority and superintendent hiring authorizations—that allow day‑to‑day functions to proceed between board meetings.
