City staff seek public input on Licking County hazard mitigation plan; council told action may come in October

Director Morhead told the committee Licking County is updating its countywide all-hazards mitigation plan, urged residents to use an online survey and QR code to submit comments, and said the city may be asked to accept the updated plan and participate as early as October.
The committee received an update on Licking County's countywide all-natural hazards mitigation plan and an invitation for public input.
"The county is working to bring some updates to the plan," Director Morhead said, describing hazards such as floods, storms and temperature extremes that the plan addresses. Morhead said the county has posted the draft plan and a survey on the Licking County website under the Emergency Management Agency planning tab and that the county is collecting comments and survey responses over the next month.
When a council member asked where to find the plan, Morhead directed listeners to Licking County's website and the Emergency Management Agency planning tab. Morhead also said staff expects to return to the committee in the October timeframe to request legislation to accept the plan and the city's participation in the countywide program.
There was no formal resolution before the committee on the hazard mitigation plan at this meeting; chair and staff noted that no vote was required at this time and that the item will return for formal action if the county finalizes updates and requests municipal acceptance.
