Residents press county for clearer notices, contract access and RECA protections in nuclear MOU

During public comment, Anita Dowernple told the council she and community groups struggle to find county contracts and public documents, citing difficulty obtaining the county's contract with Flock camera vendor and asking the council to make contracts more available. She also questioned paying outside counsel to review a nuclear campus MOU when county attorneys could do the work.
Rose Moore urged clearer agenda labeling after residents said they were "completely blindsided" by a prior overlay item that referenced a data center; she asked that the nuclear-related MOU and related materials be clearly identified on future agendas. Moore also recommended that an MOU address compensation via the Radiation Exposure Compensation Act (RECA) for potential radiation injuries to make recovery easier for victims.
