Board approves consent agenda, travel and dues; proclamation vote recorded with discrepancy

The board later voted to approve travel expenses for the chair to attend the Greater Florida Consortium legislative meeting (Sept. 16–18 in Miami) and to authorize board travel to the Manatee Chamber of Commerce retreat (not to exceed $8,600). The board also approved the Greater Florida Consortium annual dues of $5,000; those votes were reported as 5–0. Motions were made and seconded on the record.
On proclamations for the 2026–27 school year, the chair recorded a motion by Choate, second by Kennedy and announced the vote as "4 to 1 with Mr. Tatum abstaining," but one board member immediately said he had clicked the wrong button and there was some confusion about the recorded tally. The chair left the result as announced; the meeting transcript records both the announced outcome and the later comment about a mistaken vote.
