“We learned that the CDE is going to put forward the idea of a 5 year approval,” the presenter said while describing meetings with California Department of Education staff and an upcoming state board meeting. The board was told staff will meet with CDE reviewers to share the county office's analysis and a recommendation about who might be an appropriate authorizer. Trustees were reminded that if local authorizers deny a petition, state review is the next statutory step and the county's role is advisory in that process.
