Manatee schools tout Back to School Jam logistics and national recognition for district events

The district said the Back to School Jam is sponsor‑driven and will include free meals, free game tickets and a fireworks show to close the evening. Board members thanked staff for outreach and for building partnerships with community organizations and nonprofits.
Separately, the board recognized Cliff Dawson, director of bands at Braden River High School, as the district's educator of the year and noted his statewide recognition by the Florida Department of Education. Dawson said the award was unexpected and thanked the board and district for their support.
