Lyon County PIO outlines outreach: bus challenge participation, car-seat videos, NRH follow-up

Vici Smith, Lyon County Public Relations Manager, updated commissioners on several outreach and public-safety items. She recommended commissioners consider riding the LCAT bus on Oct. 2 as part of the Kansas Week Without Driving Challenge to highlight public transportation needs. Smith also noted work with Patrol Sgt. Moore to produce two instructional car-seat videos, the nomination of volunteer Jan Jacobs as Senior Sunflower, and outreach contacts about parade floats for ESU Homecoming and the county’s potential Christmas Parade entry.
Smith reported that Dennis Applegarth distributed two online youth radicalization toolkits from the Southern Poverty Law Center to Community Preparedness Committee members, and that she is working with Jarrod Fell on improvement-plan ideas following a Newman Regional Health incident discussed at an after-action meeting. She also noted a planned social post recognizing HR professionals the following day.
