Des Moines County board approves payroll, accounts payable, fireworks permit and National Night Out proclamation

At the meeting the board approved routine fiscal and procedural items including payroll reimbursement claims and a list of accounts payable. The clerk reported payroll reimbursement claims totaling $363.65 and non‑taxable cash of $36.88; the board moved, seconded and approved the payroll item.

The board also approved accounts payable claims presented as $654,167.70 in checks and $336,604.13 in wire transfers for a combined total of $990,771.83. The board approved a fireworks permit for an 08/01/2026 display, extended the closing deadline to August 20 for Douglas Avenue property(ies) due to delays in title abstracts, and approved requests to postpone (not waive) property taxes under Iowa code references noted in the agenda; DHS approvals for the tax postponements were recorded in the file. Finally the board proclaimed Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2026, as National Night Out in Des Moines County and approved the proclamation by motion and roll call.

All motions were seconded and approved by roll call as recorded in the meeting.
