Board reviews grant extension, $5,700 tree removal and five replacement trees

The chair told the board that an existing grant had been extended to Dec. 24 and that the board has used funds for recent work, including a removal by Viking Tree Service.
"We've kind of put it out to say, hey. What would this cost? ... that was about $5,700," the chair said, referring to Darwin removal work by Viking Tree Service. The board reported it purchased five replacement trees—large specimens with ball roots roughly three feet across and heights the chair estimated at 15 to 25 feet—and said those purchases may be covered by the state forestry portion of the grant.
Members noted the board has recorded roughly $6,000 in volunteer-equivalent hours on recent projects (not counted as cash expenditures) and agreed to reconcile ticketing and time records with John to ensure grant accounting is consistent with the intended uses.
