Brian Wall, the county Williams coordinator, presented the annual Williams visits summary for Santa Cruz County, detailing how the county monitors instructional materials, teacher assignments and facilities. "All the schools had sufficient instructional materials this year," Wall said, noting that most sites received good or exemplary ratings and that custodial staffs were commended for keeping buildings clean.
Wall described the review process—teams include maintenance and instructional staff, a facilities-inspection tool and a follow-up system that requires districts to send quarterly reports. When problems are found, the COE conducts revisits and often sees quick remediation; persistent issues can be recorded in the formal report if not remedied. Trustees asked about site-level follow-up (including water-fountain checks and locksmith work), and Wall said site contact and midyear revisits are used to verify repairs.
