Finance director begins 2027 budget process; village lists receipts, payments and a possible BWC premium refund

Becky, the village director of finance, told the council she is assembling the 2027 budget and plans to distribute the first worksheets to department heads by the end of the month with returns expected by mid‑September.
"I'm starting to work on the 2027, budget documents," Becky said. Finance staff reported that the village received 87 receipts totaling $357,315 through the end of July and processed 57 payments totaling $326,131 since the last meeting. Staff also said they processed two income tax refunds totaling just over $1,800.
Finance staff noted they received a notice from the Bureau of Workers' Compensation (BWC) indicating employers may receive up to 90% premium reimbursement for 2022; the staff member said they did not know how the year was selected but welcomed the potential refund.
Becky said the first round of worksheets will be sent to department heads and reiterated the timeline for returning budget requests in mid‑September.
