Police chief recommends hiring from civil service test results

The borough police chief reported results from the civil service commission testing held in June and recommended the council hire from the eligibility list as vacancies arise. "After the reviewing the test results and background investigations conducted on the 3 eligible applicants, I made a recommendation to hire and fill vacancies in order they become available in the order of the testing process as it stands down," the chief said.
Council members asked procedural questions about the list and its expiration. The chief clarified the certification of the test carries a one-year expiration and council may petition the civil service commission to extend it to two years if necessary. When asked for the date of testing the chief said, "It is 1 year from the, from when the test is certified by the veil service commission," and separately confirmed the test date was "June 20." No formal hiring motion occurred at the meeting; the chief framed the recommendation for council action at a future meeting.
