Rangeley approves $10,000 SIPA grant to improve online accessibility and resident texting

The Rangeley Town Council voted to accept a $10,000 SIPA grant to purchase CommonLook software to make town documents accessible to visually impaired residents and to trial text-notification software for residents. Staff said the grant requires no local match and would be used as a one-year pilot.
An account manager explained the program—s benefits: "We have requirements to make all of our documents and things like that online accessible, for those who are visually impaired," staff said, noting the grant would partially pay for the software and the texting platform. The council approved the motion by voice vote.
