Council approves first reading of rezoning for 10-unit Anne Street planned unit development

Council approved the first reading of a rezoning request (planned unit development) on Anne Street that would allow a 10-unit infill development, including one single-family home facing Academy Street, two rows of townhomes, a small pocket park, and a new connecting street.

Planner James (city staff) said the property is about 0.81 acres and that the plan would require minor relaxations to setbacks and lot-size standards under the PUD approach; he noted the sketch plan includes sidewalks, a proposed 24-foot two-way public street with a 5-foot sidewalk on one side, and visitor parking. "This item is a rezoning request for a planned unit development," James told the council in the presentation. The planning commission recommended approval after public comment and questions about infrastructure and landscaping. The applicant and project team presented street and landscaping concepts and said they would meet the open-space requirement by adjusting lot lines or dedicating a playground pocket park to the city or an HOA. Councilmember S18 moved to approve the first reading; the motion passed on voice vote. A second-reading public hearing is scheduled for Dec. 2.
