District reports special-education recertification training, UP conference

Special education coordinator Nathan Longton reported that MARESA provided an in-house Handle With Care recertification training for district staff and that an additional session on the next professional development day should finish recertification for paraprofessionals. The report indicated the district is close to completing required recertifications for paraprofessional staff.
Longton also mentioned the UP Special Education conference as an upcoming professional development opportunity. No formal motions or funding requests related to the training were recorded in the minutes; the updates were presented for board information and planned follow-up on staff recertification.
