Redmond planner outlines transportation master plan goals

Francesca Laverde, senior transportation planner for the city of Redmond, introduced the transportation master plan and described its purpose: to identify projects, programs and investments needed to realize a multimodal transportation system.

Laverde said the plan is intended to support Redmond's transition from suburb to city and "embodies the city's guiding principles of resilience, equity, inclusion, and sustainability." She listed concrete strategies the plan emphasizes, including expanding the bicycle network, filling gaps in the pedestrian network and ensuring accessible sidewalks, and encouraged a shift away from drive-alone trips toward transit, walking and biking.
