Winfield SD 34 board approves hires and accepts resignation; long-term substitute vote records one abstention

At the March 27 meeting, the Winfield School District 34 board approved several personnel actions. The board moved to approve the FY 2025-26 program plan and then approved employment actions: Carmen Moreno will be employed as a cook at $18 per hour; Sue Hempe was approved as a long-term substitute first-grade teacher at a rate of $263.42; and the board accepted the resignation of Amy Watson, administrative assistant for Special Education/State Reporting, effective at the end of work on April 9, 2025.
The motion to employ Sue Hempe was made by Alisa Wolfe and seconded by Lynn Kammes; voting detail lists Trustee Dave Hempe as abstaining and the three other present trustees voting yea. The other personnel motions passed on roll call without recorded abstentions. The board did not discuss salary or detailed staffing plans beyond the motions recorded in the minutes.
