County approves Farmers Mutual Telephone right‑of‑way permit; M16 paving project update

The Shelby County Board voted to approve a right‑of‑way permit requested by Farmers Mutual Telephone Company to provide a new service installation described by county roads staff as similar to a cell tower along F16 west of M16. Chris Richardson, the county Secondary Road official, told supervisors he had insurance and documentation on file and recommended approval; supervisors moved, seconded and voted to approve the permit.
Richardson also provided a project update for M16: as of the previous Sunday the contractor had paved the section south of Highway 44 to Shelby, with both lifts placed and shouldering and striping still to be completed. He said guardrail work will be required on a bridge between F32 and Highway 44 and that shouldering work remains outstanding but is scheduled under a separate contract. "So please anybody driving out there do so with caution," he said, noting a target to have asphalt in place by the end of the weekend, weather permitting.
The permit motion was made and carried during the Secondary Road report without further comment from the public; no additional county action was required.
