Several residents and community leaders used the public‑comment period to promote upcoming volunteer and community events, urging participation and thanking council for support.
Robert Burton invited residents to an Earth Day/Arbor Day planting on the Oso Creek Trail, asking volunteers to bring gloves and hats and promising succulents, ice cream and lunch: “I invite everyone within the sound of my voice to come to the Oso Creek Trail north Of Geronimo at 8AM ... ready to plant a 100 trees and 5,000 plants along the trail,” Burton said. Pastor Sam Lewis and Saga Conroy encouraged participation in Love Mission Viejo service day (May 17) and thanked the city for partnering with churches and nonprofits.
Councilmembers later used their updates to highlight successful recent events: the Master Gardener Expo, Relay for Life kickoff, the Marine Lake Day and the La Paz International Festival. Council and staff also noted volunteer efforts for parks and library fundraising events; several councilmembers encouraged residents to use the city website for event information and volunteer signups.
Speakers characterized these events as ways to strengthen community ties and civic engagement; no formal council action was taken other than encouragement and staff follow‑up on event logistics.
