A representative identified as Sarah gave El Dorado Inc.'s second‑quarter update to the commission. She said the organization submitted 11 requests for proposals in the quarter (bringing the year‑to‑date total to 22), and that the city issued ten commercial permits during the quarter totaling just over $3.3 million in investment.
"Starting with industrial recruitment, you'll see on your handout that we submitted 11 requests for proposals during the 2nd quarter, bringing our year to date total to '22," the representative said. She also reported four new housing starts during the quarter, representing more than $500,000 in new residential investment. The representative noted two Opportunity Zone nominations submitted to the Kansas Department of Commerce — one focused on downtown and one on part of the industrial area — and said a decision from the governor is expected this fall.
The presentation also noted that the Wichita Internet Exchange Point is expected to come online later this summer and that El Dorado's proximity should improve connectivity and make the city more competitive for certain industries. The commission thanked the presenter and had no follow‑up motions; the presentation was for information only.
