"You're gonna have to use hands free when using your devices," staff said when describing the new section. Staff also said there are exceptions for reporting an emergency or when a vehicle is stationary. The commission moved and voted to adopt the ordinance. The change will be codified into the municipal code and enforced according to the new STO provisions once published.
Commissioners did not propose amendments during the meeting; the ordinance passed by voice vote. The city manager and law enforcement will receive direction to publish the changes and update enforcement guidance accordingly.
