The MWBE Goal Setting Committee voted to set a 27.6% MWBE participation goal for the Whitehaven clinic construction project after EOC staff presented calculations showing MBE dollar participation across the bid packages.
Jeff Goodman of the Shelby County Health Department described the project options and site: “Our 2 story option is about 28,000 square feet and our 3 story option is about 41,000 square feet,” and said the property acquired last year sits near Southland Mall in Whitehaven, adjacent to the site of the former Sears. EOC presented an MBE total of approximately $4,000,105 on a $14,000,898 contract that yielded a 27.6% goal.
Commissioner Adan moved to adopt the 27.6% goal; after a second the committee held a roll-call vote and the motion carried. Staff said the same MWBE firms and percentages would apply whether the project proceeds as a two-story or three-story option.
