City Manager reports mitigation grants near shelter, utility notice on garbage cans and annual alcohol‑permit reporting

City Manager Matt Dahl reported staff has issued three mitigation grants to businesses near the shelter — two grants of $19,000 and one of $20,000 — to address security issues and damage, and said there are four additional applications in process with staff expecting to fully subscribe the $200,000 allocation for the program.
Dahl also said residents with damaged garbage carts may call Ace Disposal to have them replaced and that the replacement information was included in the utility bills and on the city website trash and recycling page. He reported that only one city event in the past year required an alcohol permit (the Mural Festival); alcohol was served at a private Tattoo event but no incidents were reported. Dahl said staff plans to provide an annual report summarizing the number of alcohol permits issued going forward.
These items were presented as part of the City Manager report; no council action was taken at the March 4 meeting on the mitigation grants or the reporting items.
