Council presses consultant on benchmark choices; one member commends staff

Several council members pointed out apparent duplicate entries in the benchmark detail sheets (for example, a City of Hampton entry and a separate Hampton, Virginia entry) and asked whether those figures should be combined. HR said duplicates likely reflect data-entry or placeholders and that single-incumbent positions could be supplied with current salary information on request. Councilmember Mopek also commended the manager, HR and the consultant for completing a thorough process. "I wanted to commend the manager, the human resources, and as well as our consultant because this has been a ... quite tedious process," Mopek said.
