UPD reports large drug seizures and active warrant operations in February

Chief April Morse delivered the Unified Police Department’s February report to the council. She said UPD responded to 2,018 calls for service in the month, generated 650 cases and recorded 25 booking arrests.
Morse told council the Drug Enforcement Unit obtained five search warrants in one month and that, because those warrants were high on the department’s threat matrix, four of the five were served by UPD SWAT. The warrants yielded significant contraband: "17 firearms, 4 pounds of Fentanyl, 12 ounces of Meth, 164 grams of Heroin, 27 grams of Cocaine, and 15 grams of Crack Cocaine: all in one month’s work." She also reported the department responded to a bomb threat and a structure fire during the same period.
The report was informational; no council action was taken on operational matters during the meeting.
