District expands CCAP dual-enrollment offerings with Allan Hancock; 39% of students slated to take concurrent courses

Assistant Principal Tori Martinez told trustees the district and Allan Hancock are implementing CCAP agreements under AB 288 and confirmed 15 dual-enrollment courses for 2025-26, with 26 sections and about 39% of students projected to take one or more concurrent-enrollment classes next year. "CCAP courses at high school, they're tuition free," Martinez said, noting some Allan Hancock campus courses may still require a health fee.
Trustees asked how the district and college verify course rigor and whether teachers are qualified to teach college-level content; Martinez said Allan Hancock evaluates syllabi, teachers must meet minimum qualifications and the college evaluates concurrent-teaching on a department-by-department basis. She said counselors will closely manage enrollments so students don't unintentionally exceed the 15-credit threshold that becomes the student's cost responsibility.
