Commission members discussed resurrecting a community calendar as one of the original charges of the Benicia Arts and Culture Commission. The chair said the calendar would be hosted and administered by the city while volunteers from the commission could help collect and curate event listings; commissioners raised questions about criteria for inclusion (free vs. ticketed events) and suggested an ad hoc to set parameters.
Commissioner Nima also encouraged commissioners to take part in the Primavera diversity festival on April 5 at City Park, described the event as free and open to the public, and asked commissioners to sign up to volunteer. The commission agreed to consider the calendar project and explore partnerships with local media for publication.
Provenance: community calendar discussion and idea at SEG 1150–SEG 1203; Primavera announcement at SEG 1116–SEG 1134.
