A city administration representative provided multiple operations and events updates. On building maintenance, staff said an elevator contractor’s lead technician had an emergency and crews were paused but expected to resume work the week of the 10th: "As of Monday the 10th, everybody will be back on scene, and we will be traveling along," the administration representative said. The goal, staff said, is to return council meetings to City Hall if the work completes before budget season.
Administration staff urged residents with trash or recycling concerns to call the city for individual assessments and promised adjustments for properties on steep hills. Staff also announced several community events: Wind Down Wednesday dates, a Brother's Keeper groundbreaking at 9 AM on Friday the 22nd on Washington Street, and the Gary Air Show scheduled for the 21st to the 23rd (introducing a new Friday night show and drones). Paving and sidewalk work are underway across districts and downtown demolition is imminent, with temporary road closures anticipated in the Metro Center area.
