Amanda Fedley, director of community integration day program services at ServiceSource, said ServiceSource operates multiple Northern Virginia day-program sites and that the Woodmont CIC can serve up to 70 individuals and offers expressive therapies, nursing and behavior-analyst consultation at certain locations. “We have up to 70 individuals there,” she said.
Fedley emphasized that Employment Access is a day-support program with an employment focus designed to help participants identify and work on barriers to employment as part of individual support plans. She said the program tailors skill-building to participant interests and that placements or job searches are coordinated through referrals to DARS and employment-service organizations. On vacancies, she said Woodmont had only a couple of openings that were in process and that slots are variable year to year.
Parents asked how employer interest becomes an actual job for a participant; presenters explained Employment Access helps prepare participants with targeted skills when a specific job interest is identified, and local referral pathways to DARS and employment specialists are used to pursue placements. ServiceSource offered to share contact information for follow-up and to provide program data on leave/discharge rates on request.
