Board hires new FFA sponsor and accepts two resignations

The Sesser-Valier board approved hiring Rhett Ellis as the district’s FFA sponsor, effective July 22, 2024. The motion to hire Ellis was made by Board Member Sample and seconded by Board Member Spence; the board voted 5–0 in favor.
The board also formally acknowledged resignations submitted by Elementary Classroom Teacher Shania Dorris, effective Aug. 7, 2024, and JHS Scholar Bowl Sponsor Jennifer Thery, effective Aug. 12, 2024. Board Member Kirk made the motion to acknowledge the resignations, which was seconded by Board Member Sample and approved unanimously. The minutes do not list replacements or plans for immediate staffing changes.
