Sesser-Valier board approves $375,000 HVAC change order to finish remaining rooftop units

The Sesser-Valier Community Unit School District No. 196 Board of Education unanimously approved a $375,000 change order to the district HVAC contract to cover remaining rooftop units in the high school gym, the multi-purpose room and the “Red Room.” The change-order proposal was presented as part of the superintendent’s report and was authorized by a roll call vote of 5–0.
Superintendent J. Henry told the board that "Heartland Mechanical has proposed a $375,000 change-order to the project to include the High School Gym, the Multi-Purpose Room, and the Red Room." Henry said the additional work is within the project’s budgeted contingency and recommended approval. The motion to authorize the change order was made by Board Member Spence and seconded by Board Member Kirk; members Garner, Kirk, Lance, Sample and Spence voted yea.
Board members were told Phase II of the HVAC project is mostly complete, with remaining punch-list items and potential controls adjustments after staff and students return for the 2024–25 school year. The board’s authorization covers the specified rooftop units and allows the contractor to proceed with the outlined scope.
