Student founder asks Redmond to partner on youth e‑bike safety education

Devisha Arora, a high school student and founder of the youth-led safety initiative Know Your Ride, told the council she has developed student- and family-friendly materials to help residents understand classification, speed, helmet use and other safety issues for e-bikes and similar devices. "Ebikes are not the problem. Confusion is the problem," Arora said, asking to partner with city staff, schools and community programs so safety education reaches families before devices are purchased and used.

Arora said Know Your Ride has prepared guides, videos and interactive education and offered to connect with city communications staff to share materials. Chair noted communications staff had already been in contact earlier in the day. The council did not take formal action during the meeting but staff follow-up was offered as a next step.
