Purcellville commission prioritizes five-year comprehensive-plan review and local project impacts for FY27

The Planning Commission on July 2 framed its FY27 work plan around a five-year comprehensive-plan review and a separate track for zoning-ordinance cleanup.
"I think that the comprehensive plan 5 year review obviously is top of list," the presiding official said, identifying the comp-plan review as the commission's primary task. The official asked commissioners to package previously drafted amendments, incorporate census and demographic updates, and review any state-code changes that have occurred since the current plan's adoption.
The commission also flagged three nearby projects for impact review: Valley Commerce Center, the Western Loudoun Recreation Center and the Route 690/7 interchange. The chair proposed two subcommittees focused on comp-plan tasks and one subcommittee on zoning tasks; members were asked to build "before and after" amendment pages and divide work between meetings, with readouts to the full commission and eventual public hearings.
Staff cautioned the commission to be mindful of staff bandwidth during the transition period and said commissioners should expect homework and staggered timelines for the different tracks.
