Students prefer anonymous texting tools; Say Something outpaces district tip line in survey

The Data Research and Accountability team reported that students are more likely to use the Say Something anonymous reporting app than the district tip line. "You can see that 44 of students say they are likely to use the say something anonymous reporting system compared to 29% who are likely to use the WCPSS tip line," Dr. Colleen Pablo said, explaining an early discrepancy between tools. Presenters said familiarity is higher with Say Something; roughly 16% reported being unfamiliar with Say Something while about one-third reported unfamiliarity with the tip line in earlier slides.
Committee members and staff discussed operational choices about which reporting mechanism to prioritize and how the district could consolidate channels to encourage student use. Staff said the district has been promoting Say Something since the spring of 2024 and will continue campaigns and homeroom-based instruction at the start of the year to increase awareness and participation.
