Superintendent says repairs are on schedule for three elementary schools

Superintendent Taylor opened the meeting's information items by briefing the board on structural problems identified at Durant Road, Creech Road and Davis Drive elementary schools. Taylor said repairs could not be completed before the year-round start in July and that Durant Road students and staff were temporarily relocated to Abbotts Creek Elementary.
Taylor thanked facilities staff and contractors, said repairs at all three schools remain on schedule and that he anticipates Durant Road students returning on Aug. 17. He also highlighted a technology pre-apprenticeship launched this summer (nine students, 120 hours) and announced a family and community engagement summit set for Sept. 19 at Leesville Road High School.
