BAC members press county on gaps: Fairfax Drive, Shirlington, Langston and Wilson highlighted

During the committee review members identified specific corridors the draft plan treats as lower priority or that contain discontinuities in bike facilities. Reid's GIS work and Mike's map review converged on several problem areas: Fairfax Drive (painted bike lane on an LTS 4 corridor), Shirlington and South Wakefield Street gaps, Langston Boulevard missing western priority segments, and sections of Wilson Boulevard where transit priority decisions may remove bike lanes.
Members said those map choices could produce disconnected facilities that end abruptly and discourage biking. "You wouldn't create trails that end nowhere," Elliot said, arguing the plan should avoid gaps. Members asked the committee to send consolidated map corrections and corridor recommendations to Mike for inclusion in the committee letter.
