Career Advancement Charter reports midyear LCAP gains: enrollment growth, bilingual staffing and new CTE offerings

Kerra (Kera) Sanson, executive director for the Career Advancement Charter (CAC), presented the charter’s midyear LCAP update and highlighted expansion of adult and career-technical programs, increased bilingual instructional support, and growth in enrollment. Sanson described CAC as a K–12 charter that serves adults and high-school students in career technical education and noted the program’s tagline adopted by a returning student: “It’s never too late.”
Sanson reviewed CTE offerings (culinary, dental and medical assisting, wildland fire training, building trades pre-apprenticeship) and described co-enrollment partnerships with Cabrillo College and adult-probation collaborations that support retention and workforce pathways. She noted a pilot implementation of PowerTeacher Pro that has complicated access to some midyear data but said staffing and expenditures are roughly on track, with one classified vacancy recently filled.
Trustees asked about tracking expenditures and measures of success; Sanson and staff said some contracts invoice at year end and that higher year-to-date spending in outreach can reflect successful program growth and rising ADA. The board commended CAC’s graduation and outreach work.
