Councilman Windsor (speaker 9) told the council the extension responds to recent staff turnover and a need for mentoring and training of financial staff ahead of an audit. "This year, we're requesting a $15,000 budgetary item for each," Windsor said, and he added the city expects auditing services to be solicited next January and consultant costs to decline in future years.
The council voted by roll call and the chair declared the motion carried. Windsor explained the extension is intended to complete the transition of institutional knowledge so the city can reduce outside consultant reliance in coming years.
