South Weber resident Cindy Cook urges UDOT to add sound wall to I-84 project

Cindy Cook, a South Weber resident, told the council she has "lived next to I-89 and experienced traffic noise for sixteen years" and that UDOT said it "cannot build a wall in an existing area unless it coincides with a project." She said she is collecting signatures to petition UDOT to "incorporate the cost of a sound wall into the I-84 project, specifically the area along I-89 from South Weber Drive to the town homes."
Mayor Rod Westbroek said the city has been in contact with UDOT about a sound wall and that he and City Manager David Larson have been advocating for the outcome. Larson also told the council the Parks Director, Chay Olson, will remove dying frontage trees and has prepared a replacement and irrigation plan; timing for a sound wall depends on UDOT and project timing.
