Commission approves two-year Kids Factory contract with Saddleback Valley Unified

Acting staff said the program currently has about 424 students registered at the 11 sites and that the proposed contract would keep the school-year registration fee at $86 per month (about $430 per semester) and a $75 per week summer fee. Brett Brady, community services manager with the district, and Priscilla Hart, community services supervisor, answered commissioner questions about staffing, mileage, cell-phone costs and scholarship availability.
District staff said the program has reduced administrative costs since the pandemic, eliminated one full-time position to align staffing with enrollment and continues to offer scholarships and reduced fees compared with alternatives such as the YMCA. Commissioners thanked district staff for maintaining an affordable option and moved to recommend the contract; the motion passed 7–0.
