The proposal adds early intervention steps, parent notification letters and staff training on trauma-informed practices.
"It reflects a tiered approach for reducing chronic absenteeism, which includes universal strategies and letters to parents," the staff member said. The update also calls for expanded data reporting to the board, including grade-level attendance metrics, and frames chronic absence as a district and school performance measure on the state dashboard. The board asked staff to return with additional details on training content and parent outreach plans before final adoption.
