David Chappell won the District 3 runoff in Grand Prairie, defeating Amber Timberlake with nearly 65% of the vote, according to unofficial results announced in the bulletin. The result fills the City Council seat left open after the March death of former council member Mike Delboski.
The Reporter said Chappell will be sworn in at City Hall once the results are certified and will serve a three-year term. Delboski had represented District 3 since 2017; his passing prompted the special election that culminated in the June 13 runoff.
