Mayor McCamey announced that Chelsea Sarrigan will fill the city's law director vacancy after Assistant City Attorney Corbin Nies informed the city of his planned departure later this year. The mayor said Sarrigan had expressed interest and that city leadership supports her appointment unless council moves to reverse it.
Sarrigan introduced herself to council and described her background: a lifelong Defiance County resident, undergraduate studies at the University of Findlay, law school completion while working locally, and seven years at the Defiance County Prosecutor's Office where she handled juvenile, dependency, adult-protective-services and some felony cases. She said she looks forward to building relationships with city departments and serving the community.
"My name is Chelsea Sarrigan...I went to the University of Findlay for undergrad...I joined the Defiance County Prosecutor's Office. I've been there for 7 years," Sarrigan said during her introduction.
