Council moves to advertise code update for residential meter sizing; staff to notify businesses of PFAS sampling requirement

Staff proposed updates to Chapter 82 to add explicit reference to both 0.625-inch and 0.75-inch residential meters and to align practice with industry standards and Loudoun Water guidance. Andrea Broshkovich told the council the proposed fee schedule would not change water-usage fees; "We would continue to charge that same fee for 0.75," she said. Council directed staff to advertise a public hearing on the code updates and approved the proposed revisions to the master tax and fee schedule.
Staff also informed council of a new state requirement that certain industrial or regulated businesses must sample for PFAS and that affected businesses must be notified by July 31; code revisions to implement those rules are planned for September. Broshkovich said the Mountain View PFAS treatment facility is currently offline and could require funding to remain an available water source in the longer term.
