County told state law requires comprehensive EMS plan; staff warn of data gaps and tight December deadline

Mike McAvoy told the Public Safety Committee that "the governor signed a a bill into law last year that, requires every county in the state to do a comprehensive EMS plan," and described what the law requires and the county's technical constraints. He said the state supplied a list of 75 evaluation points (25 optional) and that the county currently cannot break call lines down by municipality with its legacy software.
Committee members asked how municipalities should complete surveys and how quickly the county could produce required analysis. McAvoy said the state deadline is December 19 and suggested the county would need new analytics software to heat-map calls and provide regular data to towns. He warned assembling the required answers will not be a simple process and said additional help from county departments will be needed.
