A standing committee working on a downtown municipal project said it is operating on a tentative November 2025 referendum timetable but that the schedule will depend on the final scope of work and any additional studies the committee requests.
"I'm working on the assumption that this committee is looking at, November 20 25 referendum," Staff member Ramona said, noting that the committee still needs to finalize the consultants' scope. Committee members and the mayor discussed possible next steps, including whether to commission an economic impact study and how any additional studies would affect deadlines and required appropriations.
Mayor Forshine described the site at 237 Main Street as promising while noting rising maintenance needs at the existing city hall building. He also said a temporary tenant, Charles IT, currently occupies the 2nd and 3rd floors while preparing to move to 10 Main Street, which could ease scheduling around tenant relocation ahead of a referendum.
