Shannon Wicks, Executive Director of the Sidney Area Chamber, presented the city’s America 250 schedule for July 4–5, 2026, which includes a downtown parade and fairground activities followed by remembrance events at Veterans Memorial Park on July 5. Wicks described a Veterans Memorial Pillars project that would "represent each branch of the military, including Space Force," with plaques and QR codes linking to information about Richland County veterans.
Public Works Director Hintz and council members discussed site needs including electrical infrastructure, irrigation impacts, lighting, long-term maintenance and vandalism prevention. On a motion by Alderman DiFonzo, seconded by Alderman Kauffman, council voted to approve the parade route, use of Veterans Memorial Park and authorization to proceed with the Veterans Memorial Pillars project.
