Developers plan to reconstruct historic Beekman patent wall and center green space in Town Center project

Attorney Jennifer Van Tile and the design team said the location of the historic Beekman patent wall dictated road alignment and building placement and that the project intends to reconstruct compromised sections "out of original materials to the extent that it can be." She described the wall as an important historic resource and said the team studied it as part of a draft environmental impact statement reviewed by the State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO).
The applicants said they organized building locations to avoid disturbing the wall and to create an internal Park Square green with surrounding townhome types. The design team argued these choices both preserve the historic resource and advance multiple Town Center Business design goals, including centralized green space and diverse housing options.
