Kingsburg resident launches Christian Crabb Project and plans pickleball fundraiser

Mark Matthews, a Kingsburg resident, introduced the Christian Crabb Project, a new nonprofit formed in memory of his nephew to promote wellness, athletic training and community connection. He said the group will launch a pickleball tournament as a fundraiser and community event.
"Christian's life was tragically taken from us when he was struck by a drunk driver in November at the age of 17," Matthews said, explaining the project's origin and mission to support mental and physical well-being. He told the board the tournament is planned for September 26 at Rayford Johnson and that final nonprofit paperwork is pending.
Board members offered promotional support and social-media help; Chair encouraged Matthews to share a flyer and said the BID can post events on its events board if the activity takes place inside the BID boundaries. Matthews said the group will create a web page and flyers and welcomed partnerships with downtown businesses.
