Grand Prairie Libraries kick off 2026 Summer Reading Club, 'Reading Is Totally Rad'

Grand Prairie Libraries launched the 2026 Summer Reading Club at the main library, drawing more than 500 children, teens and adults to the kickoff event, a city report said. "Our theme this year is reading is totally rad and we are throwing it back to the eighties," a library staff member said, announcing the year's programming.
Library staff described a digital sign-up and tracking option using the Beanstack app. "What you do is you go ahead and create an account with Grand Prairie Public Library," the staff member said, and then select a challenge, join it and log reading; after five hours logged children may pick up a free book, a prize from the treasure box or a coupon. The Reporter noted there are also rewards for teens and adults and that the Summer Reading Club runs at all three Grand Prairie library locations through Aug. 8; the library's online information was given as gptx.org/library.
